We offer quiet confidential unhurried listening and where appropriate the ministry of scriptural prayer, laying-on of hands and the sacraments of anointing and Holy Communion

Individual Ministry

Sometimes people want a more private context in which to share their needs and explore what sort of healing ministry is appropriate to their current situation. This is normally done by arranging an initial individual appointment with the chaplain.

Together with the individual we seek God’s leading as to whether joining one of our regular groups would be healing and/or some individual sessions with our trained ministry volunteers.

All volunteers have had basic training in Christian Listening and are committed to on-going training and reflection through external courses and internal support and supervision work. Examples of the traditions of training used by our volunteers are Ellel Grange Ministries; Acorn Christian Healing Foundation; Ignatian Spirituality Training Courses and various Christian and secular counselling courses.

In our ministry to individuals we see our role as being channels of God’s healing love and seek to enable the person coming for help to begin to recognise God’s Holy Spirit within them guiding and unfolding their own healing journey.

Prayer to support those receiving ministry

Our groups in chapel pray also for those people who are giving or receiving ministry in other rooms in the house. This backing prayer we understand to be crucial to the way we work, expressing both our connectedness and our support for one another and embodying the fact that all of us are being “held” by God.
