What we do
For about twenty years CFH ran an annual conference at Carberry Tower (near Edinburgh) on themes relating to the healing ministry, usually in January of February.
Latterly we have alternated between having an outside speaker one year and running this conference in-house the following year. Recent outside speakers have been Wanda Nash (author of 'Christ Stress and Glory') and Sharon Stinson who has been much involved with Christian Listening. The titles of the last two conferences we ran ourselves were "Where Two or Three are Gathered", an exploration of how small groups can be healing and "Moving in Christian Healing", working with movement and song as a form of Christian healing.
Day conference
Recently it has proved to be more realistic to run a day conference and we began this in 2007 with 'Self Esteem - a crucial aspect of healing ministry and growth in faith', a day conference on self esteem led by Redemptorist Priest, Father Jim McManus (author of 'True Self Esteem', 'The Inside Job', and 'Healing the Spirit', among others). We experienced this as a very good day for building up the Fellowship as well as making connections with other people, mainly from Edinburgh, interested in healing. Reports of this day can be found in the March 2008 Newsletter.
We followed this up this year with a day event with Barbara Glasson in October 2008 - 'The Bread Church'. Barbara is a Methodist minister who began a church in Liverpool by meeting in a flat to make bread. Comments on the day and hopefully some photos, too, will be in the next Newsletter.
We hope to continue this pattern of a Day Conference in the autumn of 2009.
